I received my Armies Army Brits from the Kickstarter at the beginning of the week, and although my time has been severely limited, I have managed to do a test paint of one figure, so here are a couple of pictures.
I find these minis to be full of character, and great to paint. Thanks Keith, I'm really enjoying these!

I really like that color scheme... may I ask what colors you used?
ReplyDeleteHi Harold- thanks very much! I undercoated with Vallejo grey brush-on primer, fatigues were Vallejo Model Colour US Dark Green (893), washed with black ink (a bit of a steal from Spacejacker) then picked out again with original base colour, and highlighted twice with the addition of white; Helmet, Packs and Body Armour are VMC Khaki (988), washed with Army Painter Strong Tone, then original base colour again, followed by two highlights adding white. Boots and chinstrap are VMC Khaki Grey (880), Strong tone wash, original colour and two highlights, weapon VMC German Grey, twice highlighted by adding white. Fairly basic scheme I'm afraid, but I'm quite pleased for a change- I think I'll keep this for the Brits. Thanks for taking an interest!
DeleteAwesome, thanks for the breakdown! I'll have to pick up the Dark Green and Khaki color... I believe I have the other stuff.
DeleteYou're most welcome!
DeleteThat is nice. Really clean and lets the figure shine through.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eli, much appreciated! These figures have a lot of character, and the sculpting reminds me of the 20mm scale WW2 figures from Britannia miniatures- a line I purchased extensively in a previous 'phase'. Thanks for looking in!
DeleteNice work, Gunny. I like the color scheme.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Jay, you're a good 'un! I'm getting to grips with these washes!
DeleteNice work mate, Miniature looks good as well :D
ReplyDeleteCheers Simon! Yep, this is a nice line of minis, and I like the 'chunkiness' of them. They also have a good mixture of equipment on them to give plenty of originality within the range.
DeleteBang on the money! :)
ReplyDeleteglad you like them!
Keith
Thanks Keith! Very happy with these- even more than the Rusks. As I said, the diversity of the personal kit is great, and adds plenty of variety. I'll try and have some more up on the blog asap. Any more thoughts about sprues of alternate heads?
DeleteHi Gunrunner
ReplyDeleteIm glad you like them, looking forward to seeing more!
Ive a GRAND plan....
Its largely been set, as I need to recover costs and Ive decided that I'm not going to invest more of my own or your money until I am self sufficient. This means Ive the PLA plans on hold until I have generated some funds to invest.
So first up I am going to build up some new lines using the current Brits as dollies. The first being the Scots guards. This will include Glengarry hats and kilts. The HQ will include a piper I hope :)
Running alongside that I will be working on some New European forces. They will be German Heer inspired and again will use the Brits as dollies. Helmet, webbing and weapons will be changed for them, so despite having the same pose they will look different!
You can see my first sketches here

If this creates enough revenue, Ill start the PLA/Asian pact forces Ive shown concept art previously. If it does not...then I'm going to continue to expand on the Brits with Brazilian, Indian, North American, Middle East and modern African forces (not necessarily in the order)
hopefully........ :)
Well, I think you are very wise to take this approach- you don't need to be out of pocket on these forays, otherwise you might reach the point of 'Why am I bothering?' Using the dollies and re-working them is a good way of whipping up a new line, so I wish you good luck with that! I like the sketches, so I'm hoping that in time something will come of them, but have a bit of a break when you've shipped out the rest of the rewards- you deserve it! Best wishes, R.
ReplyDeletea break...
ReplyDeletehmmm good idea :)
cheers
Keith
