Thank you Brigade Models and latest painting rush......

At the end of December, I sent an order to Brigade Models for a collection of their 15mm sci fi buildings. When I realised it had taken rather longer than I was expecting to arrive, I e-mailed the company to see if it had been sent. Within a day, Tony had replied to tell me that the order had been sent out some time ago, but they would send a replacement asap. It arrived fairly soon afterwards and I just wanted to thank him, and Brigade Models, for taking my word about the disappearance of the order.I just felt that this sort of customer service needs to be highlighted when it happens- thank you gentlemen!

Now, after my '50 Up' post, I've managed another 20 minis, starting off with the brilliant GOTA Clan figures from Khurasan. I've posted pictures of the urban camo previously, these next pictures are of regular fatigues.

There is some great detail on these minis, and in the four pictures there are representatives from each of the range's packs.

I wanted to have some fanatical cultist figures somewhere in the mix, so I opted for the human cultists from Khurasan's Cult of Andromeda range, so here they are......

Interesting figures, particularly the face mask/respirators. I was going for a 'ceremonial' weapon look to the hardware so decided on the silver/brass combination- a bit Space Opera, but although I'm not entirely convinced it has worked, I think I'll leave it alone.

Finally, a black suited bodyguard type figure from The Scene- security for the holders of high office in my fantasy world.

That's it then. Thanks again to Tony, and thanks to you for looking in!

50 UP!

Well, we're a week into March, and if you will forgive me a little self-indulgence, I worked out that this year so far I have painted 50 miniatures, and re-painted 3 vehicles and 2 gunners. Now for someone like myself who is neither the best or quickest painter around, I have to confess I'm quite pleased with that. It may have something to do with cancelling my Sky subscription and spending more time in the evening with the radio on in front of my painting area. Add to the figures my urban terrain, extra bits added to buildings (vents, doors, air con units etc) and such, I feel that I have been more productive. Mind you, the gaming side has taken a back seat, but I want to finish the urban terrain first to use in my latest gaming venture.

Anyhow, here is a picture of the 50 of 2014:

I managed to matt varnish everything this morning in the lovely sunshine here in the UK, except the latest offerings I did yesterday from one of the new GZG ranges. Elsewhere in the above picture are  minis from Khurasan, Rebel (and GZG), with Gecko scout cars from Old Crow.

The last pictures are the aforementioned figures from GZG (I think it's the Neu Swabian League) but they are really nice sculpts. These are going to be the 'heavy' infantry, whereas the Khurasan GOTA Clan figures (second row back in urban camo, and one either end in normal fatigues) will be the light infantry. Dodgy pictures......

So there we have it. I hope to do many more minis this year and make it a bumper one, but even if I continue apace, I shall barely scratch the surface of my lead pile. Still, lucky to have a lead pile I guess!

Thanks for looking!

Khurasan Police 'Bots

Further to a request from Allison over at the 'Painting Agency' blog (full of wonderful eye candy goodness) concerning mechanoids and their colour scheme and associated suggestions, I recalled that I had not posted any pictures of my efforts with Khurasan's Police 'Bots, so to illustrate the simple scheme I put forward to Allison, here are a couple of pictures. (Please note that these minis have been gloss varnished, but not yet had a coat of Testors matt).

This is, as I say, a very simple paint job (I hear you all agree!). Steel base, black wash, drybrush steel again, and detail of armour plates picked out in white. With an adjustment of the armour plate colours, this scheme could be fairly universal for robot warriors in many guises I think.

Before I wrap up, here is a picture of my Old Crow Gecko raiders with new paint job.

Just got to repaint the gunners and find an extra gunner and weapon for the one on the left. I've got an interesting rail gun from Oddzial Osmy somewhere......mmm....
